Kebbi: Gov Idris approves over N3.5bn counterpart funds for UBE

 


Governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has approved the release of Three Billion, Five Hundred and Fifty-Four Million, Six Hundred and Forty-Two Thousand, Five Hundred and Eighty-Four Naira, Forty-Six Kobo (₦3,554,642,584.46) as the state’s counterpart funds for the 2024 Universal Basic Education (UBE) Matching Grant.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Professor Sulaiman Khalid, Executive Chairman of the Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and made available to newsmen on Tuesday.

According to the statement, the release of the funds will enable the Kebbi State Government to access an equivalent amount from the Universal Basic Education Commission, bringing the total sum to Seven Billion, One Hundred and Nine Million, Two Hundred and Eighty-Five Thousand, One Hundred and Sixty-Eight Naira, Ninety-Two Kobo (₦7,109,285,168.92) for another round of UBE intervention projects.

The projects to be executed include the construction of new classrooms, renovation of dilapidated structures, supply of furniture, and installation of water and sanitation facilities in basic education (primary and junior secondary) schools across the state.

The funds will be utilized for providing perimeter fencing, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment, agricultural education tools, and sports facilities to further enhance teaching and learning environments in Kebbi State schools.
